If you have ever played a video game you will know how addictive and engaging they can be. Indeed, they are intentionally designed to be enjoyable to play. With 68% of Australians playing video games, it’s no surprise they are making their way into the classroom (IGEA 2016). One game in particular, Minecraft, has taken the world by storm selling over 106 million copies as of June 2016. Flipping the Classroom, a blended learning approach

Flipping the Classroom is part of a Blended Learning approach to delivering content to students.  The website flippedlearning.org defines Flipped Learning as:

‘a pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment where the educator guides students as they apply concepts and engage creatively in the subject matter.’

Bursting at the seams! How teachers can manage increasing class sizes.


Teachers often struggle to manage large classes. The increased number of students in classes puts a lot of strain on staff who are under-prepared an ill-equipped for the change. Teachers who are left to deal with this problem on their own are more likely to feel unsupported and will inevitably burn out quicker.

Students Collaborate With New Features in OneNote

OneNoteAs noted in a recent post, staff at St Andrew’s College have wholeheartedly embraced the potential of OneNote to help students receive, and engage with, classroom materials in different ways. Much of the focus for teaching staff and students at this time of Term 1 has been setting up their class notebooks using the Onenote Classroom Creator tool.
