MEC Monday: Three Nations Skype-a-thon challenge

For this week’s MEC Monday blog post, we are of course going to take another look at the global #Skypeathon that starts tomorrow, and see some of the different ways you can get involved!

Last year students and educators all over the world travelled millions of virtual miles together, as they connected via Skype to other classrooms, and more about their languages, cultures, weather, geography, and so much more. There is still time for your school to join in this fantastic event, and some extra special unique elements for UK participants to explore…

MEC Monday: Technology Guest Speakers for Hour of Code

Last week for our MEC Monday blog post we looked ahead to the upcoming #Skypeathon (November 29th & 30th – mark your calendars!) by exploring the Skype in the Classroom Personal Development Webinar, hosted by Skype Master Teacher and MIE Expert Jed Dearybury. Register for the Global Education #Skypeathon – November 29th & 30th

Next month sees the return of the hugely popular Skype-a-thon! Last year, teachers and students from all around the world covered over 3 million ‘virtual miles’ during the 48 hour global event, and this year we’re hoping to beat that record!

Students and educators cover 3 million miles in two days during Skype-a-Thon

Thousands of educators, guest speakers and students travelled the world December 3 and 4 to celebrate learning without borders, holding calls all over the world. By calculating the 'virtual miles', the connections made during the Skype-athon, over 3 million miles were covered by Skype.
