Encouraging students to learn about programming

Experiences with computers have greatly changed since I was in school.  We all know how quickly technology changes.  The things we can now do with a device such as a tablet or a laptop are mind-boggling compared to what we did back on Mr. Rose’s Apple iie in sixth grade!

As I think about all of the experiences I have had with technology over the years, it amazes me to think that the students I now teach do not know a world without touch screens, surround sound, digital video… the list goes on and on. … Visit the author's original post

New Beginnings

Wow! Here I am writing my very first blog post.  This is not something that I thought I would have been doing several years ago.  It is amazing what decisions you make in life eventually lead you to.

I thought I would start my blog out by introducing myself and explaining what I do on an average school day.  My name is Mary Blair and I am the school library media specialist at Oak Valley Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska.  This is my eleventh year in this building and my sixteenth year teaching for the Omaha Public Schools.… Visit the author's original post
